I intended to write a very merry post on Christmas day, but with all the very stressful trifle-making going on, I sort of forgot… so, here it is, Merry Christmas!
On the literary side of things, my boyfriend bought me four books: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest and The Girl who Played with Fire, both by Steig Larsson; East of Eden by Steinbeck, and Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl (nostalgia!). All will be featured here in 2011.
I hope everyone had a brilliant day, in the meantime I’ll leave you with a few words from Dickens…
I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.
